AJ is the founder of Mariella & Grace, an importer and curator of artisan foods from Puglia, Italy. He spends part of each year living in Vieste, his mother’s hometown on the Gargano peninsula, where his connection to the region’s food culture began. Working directly with small producers throughout Puglia, AJ focuses on bringing authentic extra virgin olive oil, heritage grains, pasta, and tomatoes to the American table. His olive oils are selected for their balance, freshness, and strong connection to the land and traditions of Puglia, and are featured by some of Charlotte’s finest restaurants. Through tastings and educational events, he shares not only the products themselves, but also the stories, culture, and culinary heritage behind them.
